Shop Maker V4 User GuideSearch engine optimisationShop Maker V4 has been built with SEO in mind. If you have set the SEO filenames status in SEO settings to yes, the system will use search engine friendly file names which are much more attractive to the search engines. For example, you may have a product with the title Shiny Happy Wellington Boots. The system will give this file a friendly name so the URL will be: www.yoursite.com/shiny_happy_wellington_boots.html The URL above is much more attractive to the search engines than it un-optimised equivalent: www.yoursite.com/index.php?c=product&pageid=1 These search engine friendly file names apply to all categories, products and custom pages. If you have the SEO sitemap status set to yes, a sitemap XML file will be re-written every hour, which will contain all products, categories and custom pages. This sitemap file can be submitted to Google and Yahoo and will help the search engines spider and index your files faster and more accurately. To submit your XML file to the search engines, the file is located at: http://www.yoursite.com/sm_sitemap.xml On top of these features, every page will have bespoke meta keywords and description. The keywords will be the page title and the site title with a comma between each word. The description will be the page title and the site title. All of these features mean you can spend your time concentrating of building your site while Shop Maker takes care of the SEO behind the scenes. |
